Soon, Android apps can be purchased via PayPal

It appears that PayPal is about to become an option when purchasing apps from the Android Market.  In addition, PayPal will allow in-app purchases, similar to the system already in place on the iPhone.

According to iPhoneclub (click the “English” link after the first paragraph):

The In App Payment service was announced at a meeting of Social Media Club in Amsterdam. In App Purchases will be available on mobile websites and in iPhone and Android applications. Van Allemeersch also announced that customers will be available to use PayPal as a payment method in the Android Market, without being dependent on Google Checkout.

While I’m personally happy enough just to use my credit card, I know that many users would prefer alternate options of making payment.  This is due to hi the US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, The Netherlands and Australia in the second quarter of this year, which means it should be here within a month or so.

Hopefully we’ll see even more options added in the future, to make it even easier for users to pay for apps.
